So it’s “Just Entertainment”, is It?

What does the word of God have to say about the kind of entertainment chosen by most people? And what does it say about the actual enjoyment of such entertainment? The answer might shock you…

Romans 1:28-32 (KJV)
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate [… abandoned to sin; … lost to virtue and religion] mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Surely, God knew ahead of time what the world would be like in our day, to have inspired the Apostle Paul to write these words!! They describe with absolute accuracy what most folks, professing Christians included (!!), are using as “entertainment”; and by the sounds of it, God certainly does NOT approve! In fact, he said that people who do these things are worthy of death, but not only that, he says that those who use these things that others do as enjoyment are JUST AS GUILTY.

The following is the best explanation of the final phrase of this passage that I have read, and I share it with my readers in the hope that it will cause some to confess and repent immediately in “dust and ashes” so to speak, and to forsake all forms of vicarious enjoyment of sin, as being a most grievous offence to God!

Taken from: “Entertaining Spirits Unaware: The End-Time Occult Invasion” by David Benoit and Eric Barger, Updated 2011 Edition, page 270.

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Quote:
“‘Have pleasure in them that do them.’ Paul’s last word on human sinfulness is God’s condemnation of a condition even more damning than the practice itself, i.e., supporting and encouraging evil by taking pleasure in the immoral actions of others. This disposition is the ultimate in depravity — vicarious enjoyment of lust and evil.

“Being entertained by watching other people sin and engage in ungodly actions, even while you yourself abstain, brings you under the same divine condemnation as those engaging in such evil practices. Sin is intensified in any society wherever it meets with no inhibition from the disapproval of others.

“Those (and especially those who profess faith in Christ) who use the immoral actions of others for entertainment and enjoyment are directly contributing to public opinion favorable to immorality and therefore to the corruption and eternal damnation of an indefinite number of other people.”
— The Full Life Study Bible” (emphasis added)

I have “coined” a new word for the TV: DV — Devil Vision, and it certainly fits! Nothing seems to be off limits for even professing Christians to “set before their eyes”, and it’s positively shocking! It absolutely grieves the Holy Spirit of God, but the usual excuse is, “It’s just entertainment!”

Almost the entire church has fallen prey to “our adversary the devil, [who,] as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV).

It’s high time to WAKE UP and REPENT!! Christians are commanded to “be holy”, not wallow in the sewage that comes from the depraved minds in Hellywood and elsewhere. Romance novels, even so-called “Christian” ones, magazines, books and comics, cartoons, Sesame Street, et al, ad nauseum, and ALL other forms of entertainment that glorifies ANY kind of sin is an abomination to God, and should be to anyone professing Christ as Saviour, or they are “false brethren”!

The best criteria for true believers when choosing entertainment is Psalm 101:3 “I will set NO wicked thing before mine eyes!!”

May the Lord have mercy on all who have erred in this, who will truly repent.
